Candle Light
The objective for this residential property in North Bozeman was to replace a restrictive, aging deck with an expansive outdoor living pavilion that prioritizes functional zoning and minimalist design. The new, significantly enlarged footprint was designed to maximize the home’s transition to the backyard while maintaining a clean, unencumbered visual profile.
To provide a sense of seclusion for the spa area without completely closing off the space, a custom geometric privacy screen was constructed on the northern perimeter. This partial barrier shields the hot tub from adjacent views while allowing natural light and mountain breezes to filter through.
Every element of this modern design—from the seamless, hidden-fastener composite decking to the crisp black perimeter railing—was flawlessly executed with tight tolerances. The resulting outdoor space delivers a sophisticated, high-end aesthetic that perfectly aligns with the contemporary needs of the client.
Central to the layout is the deliberate integration of an inset hot tub. By recessing the unit within the deck's primary plane, we preserved uninterrupted sightlines across the yard and eliminated the bulky vertical mass of a traditional surface-mounted spa. This low-profile positioning also establishes an ergonomic, natural step-down exit, making the amenity feel like a permanent architectural component rather than an afterthought.
